The Wardrobe Icons of Elizabeth II, Rest in piece

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

I want to say we will miss the Queen, making the UK one of the few countries that have a Queen.

I just wanted to do a small tribute admiring some of her wardrobe outfits, some of them still very relevant fashionable now at days.

As she was 70th years reigning, she wore lots outfits during this time. She had a unique style.

1. The Tea Dress

She had a hourglass body shape. She used the dresses to show her figure, adding a belt to accentuate her waist. Even in the last few years, you can still appreciate her curvy feminine silhouette as in the first image.

2. The suit

The Queen, reference of style, knew how to wear another wardrobe icon "the suit". From the printed ones as per the yellow with a pleated skirt, love that outfit and still look classy and fashionable. From plain ones, with a pencil skirt or pleated, tweed fabrics or trousers.

3.The Mac or trench coat

As the Queen of England, she knows better than anyone that you never know when is going to rain. For that reason, one of her basics is the Mac and the trench. As proof of that Burberry has held a warrant from Queen Elizabeth II for trenchs and weatherproof clothing since the 1950s. As a sign of respect, the brand has announced that they will postpone their show in the LFW.

4. The Accessories

Her court shoes made by Anello & David. No mather if they were metallic, black or white, always matching with the bag.

The silk scarves, normally wore around the neck or for covering her head. Another head accessory she frequently wears is the hats from Rachel Trevor-Morgan.

Last but not least the gloves, long or short in day basics or gala as her key accessories.

5. Pearls and Diamonds

The pearls are one of the Queen's favorities; wore on the everyday necklaces or even in some of the tiaras of the royal family as the Lover’s Knot Tiara and one of the mains ones.

I want to highlight The Meander Tiara was originally owned by Princess Andrew of Greece, who was the mother of Prince Philip. Princess Andrew of Greece gave the tiara to her daughter-in-law, the then-Princess Elizabeth, as a wedding gift on the day the British monarch married her son. Jewellery can be given generation by generation adding an emotional value, making it special to the person who wear it.
